Budget-Friendly Finances
Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 28, 2026
BFF (“Budget-Friendly Finances,” “we,” “us,” or “the app”) is a personal budgeting app that helps you track spending, set savings goals, and stay on top of your money. This policy explains what information BFF collects, how it’s used, and the choices you have. We’ve kept it plain-language on purpose.
The short version: BFF stores your account details and the budgeting information you enter so it can sync securely across your devices. We don’t sell your data, we don’t show you ads, and we don’t track you across other apps or websites.
Information we collect
We only collect what BFF needs to work for you:
- Account information — your name and email address, which you provide when you create an account.
- Password — used only to sign you in. It is handled by our authentication provider and stored in a securely hashed form; we never see or store your plain-text password.
- Financial information you enter — the transactions, account balances, budgets, categories, and savings goals you add to the app. BFF does not connect to your bank; everything here is what you choose to type in or import.
- Journal entries and notes — any reflections or notes you write in the app’s money journal.
- Profile photo — if you choose to add one, the image is stored with your profile so it can display on your devices.
- A user identifier — an account ID that ties your saved data to you so it can sync.
BFF does not collect your location, your contacts, or advertising identifiers, and it does not use analytics or advertising trackers.
How your information is used
- To provide the app’s core features — saving your budget and syncing it securely across the devices where you’re signed in.
- To sign you in and keep your account secure.
- To respond to you if you contact us for support.
We use your information only to make the app work for you. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
Where your data is stored
Your data is saved to a secure cloud database (provided by Supabase) and tied to your account, which is what lets your budget appear on any device where you sign in. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections. Only you, through your signed-in account, can access your information.
The Coach feature and AI
BFF includes an optional “Coach” feature. When you choose to use it, Coach sends a summary of your numbers — such as your balance, weekly spending, budgets, goals, and recent transactions — to a third-party AI provider so it can write a helpful reply. Your name, email address, and password are never sent. Coach is optional, asks for your consent before it’s first used, and you can simply not use it if you’d prefer nothing leave your device for this purpose.
Signing in
You sign in with your email and password. On the BFF website, you may also have the option to sign in with Google; if you do, Google shares your basic account details (such as your name and email) with BFF to create or access your account. BFF does not receive your Google password.
Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers that make the app function — our cloud database provider (for storage and sync) and, only when you use Coach, our AI provider — and only to the extent needed to provide those features. We may also disclose information if required by law.
Your choices and rights
- Access and export — you can download everything in your account at any time from Profile → Privacy & account → Export my data.
- Edit or delete — you can edit or remove your transactions, goals, journal entries, and profile details directly in the app.
- Delete your account — to permanently delete your account and associated data, email us at the address below and we’ll take care of it.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete the personal data associated with it.
Children’s privacy
BFF is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
